Redirecting expired domains

When Bergfreunde GmbH had the opportunity to acquire the CAMPZ domains from the insolvent Internetstores GmbH in spring 2024, the decision for me was clear: let’s do it!

We implemented redirects for a total of 7 domains that resulted in:

Irrespective of channel, the ROI was already 400% just 3 weeks after the campaign.

Domain example berg-freunde.ch: visibility development

In SEO one rarely has the opportunity to take over such a strong competitor.

From an SEO perspective we used permanent redirects to transfer backlinks and user signals, which led to a significant increase in visibility and revenue.

The advantage for users: former customers of CAMPZ are still able to find the desired brands and categories without encountering a deactivated website. To explain the potentially unexpected redirect destination to customers, a pop-up with a welcome message was displayed for all user agents that are not search engine crawlers.

The process in brief

  1. Extract all relevant URLs per CAMPZ domain
  2. Define redirect targets on the respective Bergfreunde websites
  3. AI-powered redirect mapping
  4. Manual quality assurance of the redirect mapping
